Jeffrey May and Trisha Pope are the eclectic duo "Full Circle."

Jeffrey's lush guitar voicings and grooves meet Trisha's calm and expressive voice to explore a mixed-bag of folk songs: from Gordon Lightfoot to African American Spirituals, from original Celtic ballads to Leonard Cohen.

"Full Circle" brings a unique sound that is tender, warm-hearted, soulful and open to new possibilities!

Sutton Gospel Choir Fall 2015

     The Sutton Gospel Choir did a wonderful concert in the Abercorn Church last May. We had a really happy year of singing together. And we are starting up again this September.
    We are accepting new members and so you may contact me if you are interested. Here is a description.

  Trisha Pope will be leading a community choir of African American music, a music that speaks of freedom and spirit.

· If you like the awesome power that comes when voices come together to unite us for the common good;

· If you are inspired by good gospel music, spirituals, chants, hymns, and songs from the civil rights era;

· If you appreciate what is possible when the whole group works together to achieve harmony;

· If you are ready to commit to a certain discipline by practising your part and by coming to the practices;

· If you enjoy performing occasionally in interactive community events;

· If you are available Tuesday evenings, starting September 15/2015.

                                          Chorale Gospel de Sutton

La chef de chœur Trisha Pope dirige une chorale communautaire de musique inspirée par la rencontre entre l’Afrique et l’Amérique, une musique qui parle de liberté et d’esprit. Cette chorale reprend ses activités à l’automne.

· Si vous êtes inspiré-e-s par la belle musique gospel, les ‘spirituals’, les chants, les hymnes et les chansons de l’époque des droits civils aux États-Unis;

· Si vous appréciez ce qui devient possible quand tout le groupe travaille ensemble pour atteindre l’harmonie vocale;

· Si vous êtes prêts à vous engager à une certaine discipline en répétant entre les pratiques et en y assistant;

· Si l’idée de chanter en groupe occasionnellement lors d’évènements communautaires vous plaît;

· Si vous êtes disponible les mardis soirs à partir du 15 septembre 2015

*I lead the choir in English but we also translate the bits that are not understood by francophones. It is a very eclectic group - all enjoying singing this very tribal, soulful music together!

   The first 5 weeks of the session will be a training to help develop the ability to trust the ear-voice connection.  I will be handing out some lyric sheets but no sheet music. Most African and African American Traditional Music has roots in drum rhythms, call-and-response and group improvisation. I will be presenting work songs, circle songs and other formats for developing improvisational freedom, group play and cohesion. I am hoping it will be fun and also help us develop our sound together!
